MORE INFORMATION

SCSOASD recruits experienced referees from all over San Diego County to referee school soccer games.  We also travel as far as Imperial County.   The standard is a dual officiating system for regular season games with the traditional diagonal system for some regular season and all playoff games.  Occasionally in the regular season and at tournaments there is one official.

Pre-season organizing meetings are held starting in October.  If you want to receive notices of the meetings email Bob Petterson at scsoasd@yahoo.com.  These meetings are held at a central location in San Diego County where we review the differences between USSF and CIF, the changes to the rules for the upcoming season, the dual refereeing system, and discuss other pre-season business. All prospective referees are required to a 50-question rules test.

Significant dates are on the Calendar page.

The Southern California Soccer Officials Association web site has information on the SCSOA board, governing documents, and related matters.

CIF information is at http://www.cifsds.org/. On that page the Green Book link gets you to their Constitution and Bylaws where you can see the ejection policies on page 80 or so. The Forms link will get you to the Ethics in Sports/Coach and related policy statements: note the ejection policies. Also at the CIF web the Officials link gets you to the High School Sports Officiating Coalition handbook and fee schedule.

Acceptable and Unacceptable Goal Setup - this page shows photos of acceptable and unacceptable goal setup related to football goalpost uprights. The general rule is that football goalpost uprights be padded and must be at least 2 yards from the soccer field goal line. Remember - player safety is paramount.

Rain Procedures - in general, check with a responsible adult at the home school before you leave for the game if you question whether a game will not be played due to the weather.
