REFEREE SCHEDULING

Referees are assigned games primarily by the use of an on-line service provided by The Arbiter.Net, https://www.thearbiter.net as well as hands-on administration by our referee assigners using the telephone and email.

This season we are self-assigning some of the more remote schools: Mt. Empire, Julian and Borrego Springs. By clicking on any of these links you will be taken to a pdf file of the home game schedules for these schools. From these schedules please notify Bob Peterson by email to scsoasd@yahoo.com of the games you and a partner would like to be assigned to. We prefer that your requests be as a pair to drive together. Otherwise you will be matched with other single requests.

Before any ref is assigned a game the ref must have an email address on file with SCSOASD, have a password provided by SCSOASD and do the following:

On the Arbiter site, to see the complete lists of sites, teams or partners, you must check the "show all" box in the upper right corner of each page.

1. If you are not available to work everyday, you must go to the calendar block and pick the days you will NOT work. The program cannot handle a preference of "I will work x days a week." Therefore, if you only want to work 3 days a week you must select the days you will work and block the other days of the week. Please keep in mind our big assignment days are Wednesday and Friday.
2. If you have a relationship with a school that should preclude you from being assigned to that school, block the site not the teams. You can block up to 3 sites.
3. If you have a relationship with a specific team that should preclude you from being assigned to that particular team, home and away, block that specific team. You can block up to 3 teams.
4. Review your partner blocks. You may block up to 3 partners.
5. Set your travel limits. The default is a travel limit of 50 miles one way. NOTE, for tournament coverage, your travel limit on Saturday should be greater than your weekday travel limit.
6. Review under travel limits your starting zip code. The default is your address. Therefore, if you are leaving from work, change the starting zip code accordingly. NOTE, you can have a different starting zip code for each day of the week. This will allow you greater variety in assignments.
7. Review and correct you address and telephone numbers. Check the privacy box on the Address Green Bar if you do not want other referees and schools to see your address information.
8. Finally, MARK YOURSELF READY FOR ASSIGNING by checking the box in the lower left corner of your start page.
